Storytelling with sound, continued

[“Interview for Gazan Radio” via Internews Network]

Now that students are proficient with field recording, basic sound editing and uploading audio interviews to their blogs, we’re taking things a step further: namely, learning how to craft an audio piece with multiple voices and narration. Such pieces are the bread and butter of radio journalism.

By this evening’s class they’ll have conducted and logged two new interviews; in class they’ll be writing their scripts, and, if there’s time, voicing narration.

Next comes some more editing in Garage Band and, finally, mixing it all together.

Once you’ve mastered this process, you’re well on your way to filing stories for actual radio programs.
